As I read more about the Nacirema culture, I was taken aback to know that Nacirema is American spelled backward. The Nacirema have numerous magical beliefs, but the ones regarding their bodies and how they should be cared for are the most intriguing. The Nacirema has a sophisticated market economy and lives in a diverse natural environment (Miner, 2012). The surprising thing was that the Nacirema are intensely concerned about their body's health and looks and think that specific rites and ceremonies must be performed to preserve and enhance their physical health.
